Sylstea Sledge


The American Gospel Music Scholarship and Awards Foundation (AGMSA) is founded by Sylstea C. Sledge, Gospel Musician, Educator, Music Ministry Leader and Professor at American University in Washington, D.C.

Sylstea C. Sledge is a native of Washington, DC and is an active member of the Gospel Music Community locally, nationally and internationally. He received his undergraduate degree from Hampton University, Hampton, Virginia; and his Master’s Degree from the University of Arkansas in Fayetteville, Arkansas. Sylstea has traveled and toured Poland, Bermuda and Hawaii, spreading the good news of Gospel Music. He has directed conference choirs and shared the stage with artists such as Donald Lawrence, Shirley Caesar, Luther Barnes, Richard Smallwood, CeCe Winans and J. Moss, to name a few. His membership associations include the Gospel Music Workshop of America and the Thomas A. Dorsey Convention of Choirs and Choruses.
